the time is far spent...

what to write this week...

Still training. They haven't fired me yet, which is a good sign. So far so good. There isn't enough time in the day for everything to get done. (Never thought I'd say that.) The hymn, The Time Is Far Spent has been running through my head for about 10 days now... I've bolded the parts that are especially poignant right now:
  1. The time is far spent; there is little remaining
    To publish glad tidings by sea and by land.
    Then hasten, ye heralds; go forward proclaiming:

    Repent, for the kingdom of heaven’s at hand,
    Repent, for the kingdom of heaven’s at hand.
  2. Shrink not from your duty, however unpleasant,
    But follow the Savior, your pattern and friend.
    Our little afflictions, tho painful at present,
    Ere long, with the righteous, in glory will end,

    Ere long, with the righteous, in glory will end.
  3. What, tho, if the favor of Ahman possessing,
    This world’s bitter hate you are called to endure?
    The angels are waiting to crown you with blessings!
    Go forward, be faithful, the promise is sure.
    Go forward, be faithful, the promise is sure.
  4. Be fixed in your purpose, for Satan will try you;
    The weight of your calling he perfectly knows.
    Your path may be thorny, but Jesus is nigh you;
    His arm is sufficient, tho demons oppose.

    His arm is sufficient, tho demons oppose.
Ok. So it's most of the song... But it's super relative right now. Gotta be fixed in my purpose. Gotta shrink not from my duty, gotta rely on the arm of the Savior... all day, every day, and during the night as I sleep and dream. It is a great responsibility to train a new missionary. I knew that in my head before now, I've just never felt it until now. Still, Sister Barnett is a good missionary, and as long as I keep trying to do what is right and good we'll both be ok. A worry: I don't want to teach her anything that she has to un-learn later in order to be a good missionary. Prayer, patience, faith. Scripture study, go to church, be obedient... back to the Primary answers. Why? Because they're true.
A-men.
Ok. Have fun, be good, remember who you are.
